About Us
The Office of Career and Technical Education is staffed by the director and career and technical education coordinators (CTECs) who support our programs.

District CTE Director: J. Luke Driver MPA/M.Ed
Luke started his career in the construction trades, working as a mason's apprentice and a carpenter. He served for four years in the US Navy, as a quartermaster and a deep sea diver. He matriculated at Brown University and earned an undergraduate degree in history and a secondary teaching certificate. After spending five years in the classroom, he spent seven years as a middle school assistant principal and principal. He has been District Director of Career and Technical Education for the past four years.

Perkins Grant Coordinator: Cheryl McCreight
​
As Perkins Coordinator, Cheryl manages the Perkins grant funds and contracts. She has also worked as the NCLB Compliance Officer for PPSD. Prior to PPSD, Cheryl worked as a Financial Analyst for Deutsche Asset Management in Boston for seven years. Cheryl graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Providence College.

CTEC Full Time: Kelly Sierra BA English/Secondary Education
Kelly is a recent graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education in 2011. In 2011 she was hired by PPSD as a full-time Career and Technical Education Coordinator. For the past two years Kelly has recognized the importance of relevance, rigor, and relationships in regards to effective teaching and learning, which are the keystones of CTE.

CTEC Part Time: Tracy Jacques
Tracy earned a degree from Ithaca College in 1997 in Film and Photography and started her own photography business while also working for an advertising company in Boston. As her career progressed, she realized her true calling was in education. As a result, she went to RIC and attained her Masters in Teaching. She continues her photography work but has shifted her career focus to education. She has worked in urban school district since 2007 helping students realize their potential and future career goals.

CTEC Part Time: Carina Monge
​Carina graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor in General Studies with a concentration in Communication and Marketing, and has helped students explore career pathways in Health Sciences at the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex since 2006. Carina plays an important role in the Hispanic Community as Master of Ceremony/Hostess and contributor at various cultural events. She also serves as a translator for various public officials, and is very active in local nonprofit organizations. Carina hosts her own public access television show and is an announcer on the Spanish radio station PODER 1110 AM.

CTEC Part Time: Alyssa Nicynski
​
Alyssa attended LaSalle Academy High School and Rhode Island College and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, with a double minor in Computer Technology, Photography. She is a certified CISCO Systems instructor. She spent 7 years working in the corporate community as an art director. She supported the visual arts and information technology programs at Hope High School for 5 years, and is currently supporting the Teacher Academy at Mount Pleasant High School.
